Annual Steam Outage

Planning for the 2012 Annual Steam Outages has begun. The centralized steam distribution system must be shut down to conduct required maintenance of equipment, including replacing and upgrading many key components of the University's Utility System. The outages will occur on the following dates depending upon an average weekly high temperature of 60 degrees or more:

• City Campus only from May 6th through May 12th
• East Campus only from May 13th through May 19th

These dates were selected due to the decreased student activity on campus. During the Steam Outages, there will be no heating and no process steam available in those building systems served by campus steam. Campus Chilled Water Outage

An East Campus Chilled Water Outage is planned to occur Monday, December 19 - Friday, December 23, 2011. A City Campus Chilled Water Outage is planned to occur Sunday, March 18 - Saturday, March 24, 2012. These dates were selected to coincide with a low level of student activity on the campus. The outage is necessary to perform maintenance at the East Campus Utility Plant that is not possible during normal operations.

During this Chilled Water Outage, there will be no chilled water for equipment cooling or air-conditioning. Building air-conditioning will continue to be provided using cold outside air. If warm days occur during this outage, interior building temperatures may be elevated.
